An Experienced Team with Local Roots
The Bakers met at Campbell University School of Law in Raleigh, North Carolina, where they tried cases together in mock court and fell in love with the law and each other. "Luke and Laura" became partners in marriage, and recently became law partners as well. Although they concentrate in different areas of the law, their clients benefit from their "two heads are better than one" approach to each other's cases.
Lucas was born and raised in small-town North Carolina (Sylva), and brings those values to his legal practice. He handles family law, personal injury and wrongful death, and business and civil litigation. Laura's special focus is criminal defense and family law. After honing their skills as associate attorneys at area law firms, Lucas and Laura established The Baker Law Firm in Concord in March 2009.

About Our Legal Fees
Our legal fees are reasonable and competitive:
- Initial consultations are always free of charge in personal injury cases.
- In family law, criminal defense and other cases, we charge a reasonable fee for the initial consultation.
In personal injury cases, we take cases on a contingency fee basis. This means we charge no legal fees unless we recover compensation, in which case we collect a percentage of your recovery (established up front) plus any expenses advanced. In divorce cases, we also handle certain property division cases on contingency.
Attorney fees are case-specific. We can't typically give a quote over the phone, but by the end of your initial consultation we will be to provide a firm quote or reasonable estimate of the cost of representation.

Our law office is located in the heart of historic downtown Concord. Free parking is available along the street and in nearby lots. Our regular office hours are Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. By special request, appointments are also available after regular business hours, on weekends and off site.
